What can my dog learn?
Our canine friends are capable of so many things. A few examples of things we might work on in private lessons include:
Basic Training: Teaching your dog to respond on cue to the most commonly used behaviors, such as sit, down, stay, come, leave it and walking nicely on leash.
Puppy Care: Getting your puppy off on the right foot with socialization, potty training, nipping and preventing unwanted behaviors from developing.
Fixing Behavior Issues: Behavior issues like barking, chewing, nipping, and pulling on the leash are all helped immensely by implementing the right training program.
Behavior Modification: I can also work with you and your dog on serious problems like resource guarding, fearful behaviors, leash reactivity and aggressive behaviors.
Advanced Behaviors: I am an AKC Canine Good Citizen evaluator and am happy to work you and your dog up to this level (and beyond!). I also offer the Canine Good Citizen test. I am happy to work on more advanced basics such as heeling, off-leash work and listening around distractions.
Tricks: Tricks can be a fun bonding experience for you and your dog, are a great confidence builder, and are a fabulous way to show off your training. There are a ton of tricks your dog can learn, ranging from more basic tricks like shake, roll over, play dead and take a bow to more advanced concepts such as counting, identifying and retrieving multiple items by name, pushing closed doors or drawers and putting away their toys.
Service Dog Training: I offer personalized training for service dogs on a case-by-case basis. I specialize in mobility and hearing dogs. See the Service Dog Training FAQs page or contact me for more information.
